Our site is designed to make your online experience easy! Our online ordering system is secure, managed by Opayo (formerly known as Sage Pay), and we accept debit cards and all major credit cards (except American Express and Diner's Card). We are also able to take payment by Paypal. This option will appear on the payment categories when you checkout and you will then be taken to the Paypal payment page.
Alternatively you can telephone your order through to 01691 623225 Monday to Friday 9.30-5.30pm, or send a cheque through the post with details of the books you wish to buy (don't forget to add post and packing of £4.00 per order if you are ordering from within the UK, and the appropriate postage amounts if you are ordering from elsewhere). Please allow additional time for delivery if your order is made by cheque and post.

The Medlar Press,
Shopping online using a card has now become an accepted way to pay for goods or services. Most people are comfortable with handing their card to a shop assistant or waiter, or giving their card details to someone on the other end of the telephone. Many people, however, are still uneasy about putting card details into a website, as they are not sure what is happening to the information they are submitting or where it is going.
When online shopping with the Medlar Press, we use Opayo (formerly known as Sage Pay), ensuring that your card details are securely encrypted during transport over the Internet so no one can read your card information. The card details are only sent directly to a Bank to authorise your purchase.
Your card details are not visible to the Medlar Press, nor are they held on our systems.
Problems with website ordering?
If you have problems with ordering online please don't hesitate to contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org (please write ‘PROBLEMS ORDERING’ in the subject line) or by phone on 01691 623225. We will try to resolve the problem or can take your order by phone, whichever you prefer. Please note that our secure payment pages operate from Opayo and Paypal and are then redirected back to the Medlar Press website.
Returning customer - email not recognised?
If you are having problems accessing the site after registering, you can click on the ‘Forgot Your Password?’ link during the Sign In process. You will then be sent instructions by email to set up a new password.
Delivery Times (estimated)
If the book you have ordered is in stock it will be despatched via Royal Mail, normally within 2-3 working days.
Delivery times are approximately as follows (with international orders being sent by airmail post):
UK - five to seven working days
EU - two to four weeks
Europe - (non EU) three to five weeks
North America and Canada - between two and five weeks
Rest of world - two to six weeks
If for any reason, the book you have ordered is not in stock, despite being listed as such online, we will contact you as soon as possible to advise you of this and will offer a refund or transfer to another item.
Normal Delivery Charges and Customs / VAT charges
Please be aware that postage prices have increased substantially during 2020 and 2021 and although we have tried to hold them during 2021, we will have to monitor them closely, particularly those for the EU.
Postage charges are applied on a per order basis. For UK orders a charge of £4.00 is made for postage and packing. Overseas postage will be sent airmail. If you are ordering from overseas, the required postage supplement will be added to the price of the book. The postage price to Europe is currently (2021) £9.00 and for the rest of the world it is dependent on weight (you will see the postage element for your order during checkout). Some exceptionally large or heavy titles may incur an additional postage charge; this will be mentioned on the page for the relevant book.
If you require a book urgently please call our office on 01691 623225 (we can normally offer a Special Delivery option in the UK for an additional charge, dependent on weight).
Deliveries & Charges During the Covid-19 Pandemic until Further Notice (UPDATED 30.11.21)
UK Deliveries: Medlar is processing and despatching orders as usual and we are very grateful to the postmen and women who are keeping the collections and deliveries going in the UK. On the whole, UK deliveries are arriving as anticipated but occasionally minor delays may occur, due to Royal Mail staff shortages.
International Deliveries: Deliveries to all countries are subject to delays and prices have also been increased due to the escalation of air carrier costs (as much as fivefold to some countries!). Postage prices to all non-EU countries are based on weight rather than a flat cost per order.
Local import taxes and VAT may be payable on overseas orders and are now being charged by EU countries. For customers not in the UK, please check the tax and VAT policies for your particular country before ordering. You are likely to be charged a percentage based on the total value - the cost of the goods, plus the cost of the postage - and this charge will be made by your local customs office or postal service before you can receive the goods.
Current Postage Charges (as of Nov. 2021)
(please note these may be altered to reflect increases in postal charges to us)
