JOHN RICHARDSON

After quite a few years of growing progressively fed up with the traffic and density of population on the Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey borders, John and his wife Sue finally moved to Norfolk from Sandhurst in the summer of 2010. The best move he ever made. When he retired he bought an 1876 Hopkinson & Cope Improved Albion Press, which is totally original except for one bolt. He uses the press to print his evocative linocuts and woodcuts that are, in the main, of the Fenland landscape and the big skies that dominate it. He fishes for pike, perch and zander in the local rivers and drains. He also shoots and gets depressed about the fortunes of Middlesbrough Football Club, a club he's supported all his life. Well, someone has to . . . Meanwhile if you would like to see more of his work and read further about John, please see here:

He also writes and illustrates another blog all about the area where he lives, in the heart of the West Norfolk Fenland at:

The Two Terriers

Apart from his own prints and books, John has illustrated other books for the Medlar Press, including
The Fishing Box, Castaway by Clive Gammon and One for the Road by Donald MacIntosh. He also designed the book jacket for Running with the Tide.
