ELWYN ATTWOOD

Elwyn, more commonly known as ‘Rupe’, has been a keen angler since the age of eight after catching tench in a local pond. He has maintained that enthusiasm for over fifty years, fishing all over Europe and America. Although once a keen match angler, successfully taking part in team competitions in the UK, Southern Ireland and France, Elwyn has also pursued specimen carp in Britain, France and Cyprus - as well as fishing for shark and tarpon in America. He is now happy to pleasure fish for all species - and regularly uses his Youngs reels to do so.

Born near the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, Elwyn's passion with J.W.Young reels began in 1980, after reading of Chris Yates' capture of a record carp from Redmire Pool using an Ambidex reel. Since then he has amassed an enviable collection of several hundred Youngs reels. He also has a keen interest in angling history and his library of several hundred angling books are mostly pretty well read.

Together with angling, Elwyn has a passion for music and now deals in rare and collectable vinyl records. His first book was published in 2009 and he has also written several published articles on reel collecting.

Now living in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, later this year Elwyn will celebrate his sapphire wedding anniversary after enjoying forty five years of marriage with his wife Sandra. They have two grown up children (Lee and Emily) and five grandchildren.
