Novelist, translator and angling writer. Born Weald of Kent 1955. Self-educated. Currently living in a caravan in France.  Radical green, atheist. 

Various  Awards: Best New Angling Writer 2003, IMPAC Dublin Longlist 2005 (White Lies), Shortlist Dazed & Confused 2003, Shortlist Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize 2006, Arts Council Awards etc. 

Equally content to carp fish the big lakes or stroll the tiny local streams with worm and pin. When not writing or fishing, can be found practising organic permaculture. Lives off rainwater and fiction editing.
