DAVID STANLEY
David Stanley was born in Blackburn, Lancashire in 1948. He recently retired from teaching economics and business studies after thirty-five years at the same secondary school in Accrington.
David’s early angling experiences involved catching small roach and perch on the local mill lodges of Lancashire and the local river Calder at Whalley and river Ribble at Ribchester. He is a member of the Hyndburn & Blackburn Angling Association and the Bradford City Angling Association. David ‘teams-up’ with his friend, Keith Harwood, coarse fishing on the Ribble and fly fishing on the Aire at Gargrave, near Skipton.
David was an accomplished cricketer as a club professional at several league clubs and regularly represented Lancashire 2nd XI. He now watches Lancashire League cricket, Premier League football at Blackburn and Super League rugby at St Helens.
David is the co-author, with Keith Harwood, of Tight Lines – The Story of ABU and the author of the Hardy Book of The Reel. In 2012 he co-authored with Andrew Herd and Keith Harwood Gear & Gadgets - an Irresistible Collection of Hardy Fishing Tackle.
He is a collector of antique fishing tackle, specialising in Hardy reels, Hardy fibreglass rods, fishing catalogues and coarse fishing books.
He was married in 1975 and has a son and a daughter.
