HANS VAN DER PAUW

Hans van der Pauw is a professional historian and an angler, which he sees as two expressions of the same dogged hunting instinct. He has written several books on history, among them Guerrilla in Rotterdam - his thesis on armed resistance groups in the city from 1940-45 and the prize winning work Rotterdam in de Tweede Wereldoorlog (Rotterdam in the Second World War). Apart from that, he has also written two books on angling - Tijdloos Sportvissen (Timeless Sportfishing), the first anthology of Dutch angling literature (2006), and Sportvissen door de jaren heen (Sportfishing through the Years), on the development of angling in the Netherlands during the past century (2023). From 2012 to 2018 he wrote for the British angling quarterly Waterlog.
