JON EDY-BERRY
Jon Edy-Berry lives on the border of Wiltshire and Somerset, and is currently Head Teacher of a secondary school which sits beside a classic chalk stream. When not teaching or spending time with his family, Jon fishes for a variety of species, with particular fondness for big carp and wild brown trout. In creaky middle-age, he prioritises beautiful locations and good company over record fish. His proudest angling moments are the capture of two double-figure ferox trout during a day on Lough Corrib, appearing on the cover of an early Waterlog magazine and the landing of a 46lb mirror carp on an old cane rod and centrepin reel from Ashmead in Somerset.
The story of the latter is one he will inevitably tell you if you let him.
He has written three other angling books, edited a series of anthologies for the Medlar Press and contributed chapters to several other publications. Jon was editor of Barbel Fisher magazine for two years. He is working on several angling-related projects, all slowly.
He is a long-suffering supporter of Southampton FC, a member of the infamous Golden Scale Club, a red wine enthusiast and a dreadful guitar player. He believes that modern angling is unnecessarily complicated and that most people cast too far out.
