CALLUM HARRIS
Callum Harris is in his mid-thirties and has been fishing since childhood, having learned to fish with his father around Yateley, Hampshire. He now lives in Woking, Surrey, with his young family.
In recent years, he began to quietly despair of the bustle and excess of modern carp and coarse fishing. Around 2021, he stumbled upon rock fishing and promptly ditched most of his 'session' fishing gear, and he hasn’t looked back - not yet, at least!
Callum quickly fell in love with the freedom, unpredictability, and promise of adventure offered by Dorset’s rocky coastlines. Chasing ballan wrasse in these wilder places soon became a passion, and he came to savour this raw, uncomplicated style of fishing. In time, much of his former coarse fishing began to feel utterly ridiculous by comparison! Since then, he has fished for wrasse in Pembroke, Devon, Cornwall, and Guernsey, though Dorset continues to sit at the heart of his wrasse fishing. He has yet to be tempted by serious bass fishing but occasionally enjoys targeting micro-species with Light Rock Fishing (LRF) gear, as well as squid fishing in the autumn.
Away from the shore, Callum loves nature, photography, and writing. When not working or with his family, he can often be found skulking around his local woodland with binoculars close to hand.
