George Miller
George Miller is a poet and pacifist, inspired by the writings of Richard Jefferies and the music of Jean Sibelius. He was born at Stanwell, outer London, in 1939, moved to rural Sussex in 1944, studied English literature at Cambridge and Reading Universities, is married and has lived on the Shropshire/Wales border since 1974. He works in partnership with his daughter as a letterpress printer and craft bookbinder. The Buzzards of Zinn is his first work of fiction. (www.hedgesparrowpress.org)
George describes his love of fishing and the way it links to his new book as follows:
I loved fishing as a boy and was happy to spend hours by streams and ponds not really caring if I caught anything, but feeling in perfect harmony with nature and my surroundings. For me such memories epitomise peace, and fishing is one of the delights the novel celebrates to set against the dark and tragic things we hear and read about every day. We cannot ignore the world we live in, but there are still times and places where peace is possible.
