Salmon Fishing
J.J. Hardy
This is a beautiful new edition of J.J. Hardy's classic salmon book of 1907. It includes an updated list (by Andrew Herd) of the 345 salmon flies originally catalogued by Hardy, as well as some superb colour plates of salmon flies tied in the hand by Ken Middlemist, the last Hardy salmon fly dresser. There are also 33 monochrome plates. The foreword is written by Jim Hardy.

Twelve chapters cover salmon flies and their dressing, tackle, casting, hooking and playing the salmon, hooks and knots, spinning, prawning and worm fishing, wading, gut and 'odds and ends' and, of course, the dressings for 345 salmon flies, alphabetically arranged and numbered. The book has marbled endpapers, head and tail bands and a striking gold- and red-embossed cover.

'Animated with the spirit which desires to know more of the salmon and their moods, one always feels that there are many problems yet unsolved. Let us hope that while they make the angler's life more interesting and enjoyable, they will for all time remain a fascinating study for enquiring minds.'             - J.J. Hardy
