The Treatise - Transcript
Andrew Herd

It's over five-hundred years since The Treatise (arguably written by one Dame Juliana Berners), was hand-printed by letterpress by Wynkyn de Word (William Caxton's apprentice) at Westminister in 1496. It was certainly the first book on angling printed in the English language, and this Medlar copy  of the Treatise, written by Andrew Herd,  includes a page-by-page illustrated transcript, a brief history of fishing in the fifteenth century, and an insight into the legend of the mysterious Dame Juliana.

Please note that this transcript was first published alongside a leather facsimile copy of the original 1496 book, which is now sold out.
