Wood Pool (A Carp Water)
BB

'I can smell the water now, a faint scent which has something of the sea in it, yet is quite distinctive. Most old pools have this smell. There is a hint of rotting leaves in it, a half-sweet, half-rotten perfume which is very pleasing.'

“BB” is without doubt, one of the finest writers and illustrators of angling literature. In this, his famous carp classic (first published in 1958), he reminisces about days and nights spent fishing his beloved Wood Pool and about the way he transformed this ‘silent forsaken water’, through stocking and clearance, into an angler’s paradise. In addition to some hauntingly memorable descriptions of this beautiful lake, “BB” also offers his thoughts on the nature of carp and tench and how best to fish for them. This edition is based on a copy originally owned by “BB” and includes additional illustrations by the author.
