Chris Yates is undoubtedly Britain’s best loved, most eccentric gentleman angler and one of angling’s best writers. These diaries, covering four years of his obsession with carp, and including the landing of his record carp from Redmire, were written very much for himself. He had reservations about their publication. However, in many ways they show Chris at his very best - bubbling with enthusiasm for the fish, acutely aware of his environment and the changing weather, and generally soaking up the atmosphere of whatever watery pitch he finds himself in.
