“BB” is without doubt, one of the finest writers and illustrators of angling literature. Here he recalls some inspirational fishing expeditions, from night fishing for carp to salmon fishing in the Scottish borders, and fishing with his 'fellow carp addict of the magic hat' Richard Walker. Along the way he discusses the relative merits of float and fly fishing, and of canal and river fishing, the tackle used, his memories of boyhood, including holidays in Pembrokeshire, and muses on the reasons why we fish at all.

Originally published in 1949 under the name of Michael Traherne, this beautifully written and illustrated book is thought by many to be “BB”s finest work.
