A new edition, now in paperback, of the history of the most famous fishing tackle manufacturer in the world.
This book takes the reader behind the scenes to give an insight into its origins and development during a period of more than one hundred years. Written by James L. Hardy, the book is a unique document of a unique company, as well as paying respect to some of the leading characters who kept its wheels oiled and turning for over a century. Apart from being a true record of the development of a unique company, the book contains many fascinating snippets of angling history and folklore. Some strange and funny things happened at Hardys over the years: there was the letter addressed to ‘Hardys, c/o The King, England’ that arrived safely at its intended destination. Then there was the time when the Prime Minister of the day, Stanley Baldwin, informed King George V that the birthday of Thomas Hardy (meaning the celebrated English novelist and poet) was approaching. Accordingly the King sent a greetings telegram – some might think quite understandably – to Hardy Bros. Ltd., makers of his fishing rods!
